Post Bar

Hello hello hello!

How did four years just fly by? I feel like it was just yesterday that I applied to law school and somehow thought I would be able to blog and work full time and go to school at night. Who was I kidding??

I am happy to report that the last year has been nothing short of amazing. Starting with the addition of my niece, Peyton Faye. She is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever encountered and love her more than I could have imagined. Just look at her!!

I literally have hundreds of pictures of her. Then, somehow, Joseph and I got engaged in December!

Then…married! We tied the knot in May after over 14 years. It was a beautiful day and I’ll always remember how much love I felt.

Followed by a spectacular honeymoon in Sedona where we hiked, got massages, went to the Grand Canyon, and spent a day on a Razr ATV. We had the most fun and did not want to return to reality.

But, we had to return so I could graduate!!!

And then I spent the last 3 months at home, studying full time for the bar, which I took last week. This is what my office looked like the week before the bar.

Since then, I’ve been doing as little as possible. I have had a hard time relaxing… surprise surprise. I keep wanting to do something creative but really don’t feel like jumping back into my cook book scrapbook just yet. I walked around Hobby Lobby for a long time on Monday but wasn’t really inspired. Then I went to the library and got a book called Letters to a young lawyer by Alan Dershowitz. I have yet to open it. Finally, I was inspired last night to create a new project. So, I got out of bed at 12:45 am to begin. I hope to share it with you soon!

My post bar plan is to take August off to spend time with friends and family and to relax. I can’t work as an attorney until I pass the bar, and results don’t come in until November, so I am hoping to find some law clerk type work in September for a couple of months. With any luck, I’ll find something. I think I’ll start to blog again, I always loved it so much and have so much cooking and crafting to catch up on!

I missed this!!

Superbowl Weekend

It’s Wednesday already? I had high hopes of getting this done before now, but I have been a busy little bee!

Last weekend Joe and I went on a little adventure to Valley Springs and Clements to visit my family and go to a Superbowl party.

When we arrived at my parent’s house on Saturday my Mom had a big pot of chili cooking and it smelled AMAZING!  We visited for a few hours before digging in, it was delicious!

We hung around and played with the animals, they are super cute!

That is my Daddy with Mr. Chow (our cat from our last house that went to my parent’s house when we moved).  They like each other!

Here is Mr. Chow and Gizmo on the back fence looking at us while we checked out the new gate and repairs that my Dad made when the fence fell a few weeks ago.  It is so funny to see him up there because he was so scared of everything when we got him! He LOVES living there!

Isn’t Stewart getting big? His head seems more dog than puppy now, if that makes any sense!

Later that night the sunset was gorgeous and we continued to chill out and Jamie curled my hair while Dad and Joseph watched hockey and the pregame Superbowl coverage.

She did such a cute job! It was just for fun because she LOVES to curl her friend’s hair and has been asking me forever to do mine.  We finally found the time and Joe thought it looked like a poodle. LOL I would have curled them looser if we were going somewhere but after sleeping on it I was able to wear loose curls all day Sunday! That is a miracle as my hair notoriously does not take a curl!

The next morning we woke up early and had breakfast consisting of pancakes, sausage, hash browns and fruit.

I also prepared some meatballs for the party later that day! They were so simple and yummy!

When we arrived we went shooting (clays) until the game was ready to start.  We had so much fun! I hit 4 targets baby! I only shot at 8-10 so I was happy as I haven’t went shooting in years!

Look at that stud!

We watched the game, ate like pigs, and played with the babies- 3 of them!  Here are a couple cute ones of Jack Jack!

At the end of the night we drove home and passed out.  It was fun and we are looking forward to a month of fun weekends!  On the agenda:

LSAT, Amanda B’s birthday party, fishing trip in Carmel, Coheed concert, and more!

Stay tuned for some more better late than never posts from this girl as I am also back in school and working!

A good day with great friends!

Yesterday was a day well spent!  Our good friends Rachel and Tyson came over with their adorable little one, Jack Jack!  The boys watched football and the girls hit the new Livermore outlets.

Jen, Rachel, and I shopped for a few hours and came home with some great deals! Rachel got a nice jacket from Volcom that was on sale from $99 to $10- can you believe that?? We all thought it was a mistake, but it was just a really good deal. She also got two pairs of jeans for her husband for $24, and if you have ever shopped at Volcom you know that’s a steal.  I brought home this little gem:

Fox Sweatshirt

I am so excited to have found it for only $20! It is a vintage style Fox sweatshirt that reminds me and Jen of an old shirt that my Dad used to have.  When I was 7 my Grandma found the shirt in the attic and I wore it ALL the time.  It is also perfect for Supercross this month, I’m so excited!!

After we came back the girls played the Friends trivia game and Rumikub while the boys finished watching football, and we all played with Jack Jack.

Isn’t he the cutest? He learned to say Joe Joe yesterday, it melted our hearts! Rachel sent us the cutest video of him waking up this morning still saying it!

We had a really fun day, it was so nice to catch up!

On another note- who else is excited for the Bachelor to premier tomorrow?

Q: Which was your favorite season of the Bachelor or Bachelorette?

For fellow food lovers…

Hello to my fellow food lovers!  I am excited to report that Joe and I have found the best pizza we have ever tasted.  You read that right, ever! It is in San Ramon and it is called Zachary’s Chicago Pizza.  Joe had gotten a tip from a coworker to try this place out, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint.  We ordered a half Carne and half Mediterranean.  The Carne includes Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, chopped bacon, mozzarella.  While the Mediterranean has red bell pepper, green olives, artichoke hearts, feta and jack cheese.

Doesn’t it just make your mouth water?  Afterwards we headed to Joe’s inaugural visit to Pinkberry!  We shared a cup with chocolate hazelnut ice cream topped with nutella, a waffle cookie, and mochi.  MMMM!

Clearly we love to eat!!

On another note, we had a wonderful weekend in which we were able to see many of our friends!  We spent the day yesterday celebrating Jack-Jack’s first birthday and the night celebrating his daddy’s birthday. Today our friends Steven and Jenna came over for some football and beer!  I am not ashamed to say that we also went to Pinkberry again! Can you say fun??

And with that I must go finish a paper that is sadly calling my name.  Until next time…

Anxiety…need I say more?

Good morning everyone!

I hope this Monday brings all of you a better feeling than I currently have!  I am optimistic but it’s hard to shake the anxious feeling deep in my stomach.  This is going to be a crazy week!  We are supposed to move this weekend, if everything goes as planned.  Before that I have to deep clean this house for Joe’s grandparents, and I would like to buy them some groceries so they can at least have something to eat when they get home. We also have to clean up the fruit trees in the backyard, which is going to be super… Most of the fruit rotted before it ripened because it was so hot, so we have the fun task of climbing on the latter to remove the gross fruit, YEY!  I also have classes as usual, and LSAT studying.  The thing that is weighing heavy on my mind today is my senior paper topic.  I have to come up with one by Wednesday night, yikes!  It can be virtually anything to do with history, but I need to find an original angle on something.  I will then need to spend the next 15 weeks researching and writing a 30 pager on it, so I need to be interested in it.  Any suggestions?  I am stumped.  The other option is to research an event in history and to critique 8 or more books about it…no thank you.  I have enough to read this semester, I would rather search for important facts in 20 books than fully read 8 or more in addition to my assigned selection.  Maybe the thing that is bothering me the most about this week is not knowing exactly what day we are moving.  I am expecting a call from our landlord within the next couple of days to confirm.  The thing is, I have people waiting on me!! I feel bad telling them last minute when we are moving.  Anybody have a tums? Pepto?  oy vay!!

On a lighter note, I had a great weekend and probably got the best sleep I have had all summer.  It was glorious.  Are any of you bad sleepers as well?  How do you get yourself to calm down and get some rest?  I seriously need tips people!!

I spent Friday at my parent’s house, celebrating my birthday!  We had a delicious meal and very yummy lemon cake!! I told them that there were too many candles, but they didn’t listen! LOL  I spent lots of quality time with our newest family member as well, Stewart.  He is such a little sweetie!

Okie dokie, well have yourself a merry little day and week!  I will keep y’all updated on the moving situation and I’m sure I will take plenty of pictures of the new place when we get there.
