Today is a somber day for so many all over the country. As all of you probably know, Hurricane aka Superstorm Sandy hit the east coast yesterday and will continue on for days in the midwest then onto Canada. The footage is straight out of a movie, it doesn’t seem real. The boardwalk in Atlantic City floating away, the New York subway flooded, a crane hanging off of a high rise, fires and more. So many are displaced from their homes and the last I read, almost 40 deaths have been reported. In the wake of the disaster my heart is heavy and my prayers go to all who need them.

There are so many ways that we can help out our friends in the east. The Red Cross website has some really good tips on how. You can see them here. Some of them include donating money, fundraising, giving blood, volunteering and more. If you want to donate via text message, you can text the word “Redcross” to 90999 to send a $10 donation. You can also keep up on new information from the Red Cross by reading their blog. ABC News also has a webpage devoted to helping out with other organizations in need of support. You can read about those here.
You can also watch your local news to see if your community is getting together to help in other ways. Please spread the word through your facebook page, twitter, or blogs.
Be safe and please keep those affected in your prayers.
